Our programs are tailored to suit the needs and interests of our participants and volunteers. Within each community multiple programs may be offered with different curricular content, based on the abilities and interests of students and volunteers. We have run a variety of successful programs, which in the past have included:
- World Music Appreciation Classes:
These group classes introduce participants to the rudiments of music by exploring music and cultures from around the world. In addition to learning musical theory, we strive to promote tolerance, acceptance and appreciation for multiculturalism. Typical class sizes range from 10-15 students, with an average student to teacher ratio of 5:1.
- MusicBox Children’s Choir
With the help of experienced choir and vocally trained volunteers, the Children’s Choir meets weekly to rehearse songs from a variety of backgrounds and themes. In addition to introducing participants to music and vocal theory, the choir instils discipline and confidence through rehearsals and performances.
- Private Instrument Lessons:
Volunteers are paired with one or two children and conduct private instrument lessons. In the past, we have had private piano and guitar lessons. Structured identically to paid sessions, these sessions provide motivated and highly interested participants with a chance to engage in quality, individual music education programming, with all of the benefits of structured instruction including curricular advancement and building on previously acquired skills.
- Early Childhood Education:
