As a youth-driven initiative, the Directors of MusicBox are strong proponents of “self-help” within a community. The needs of a community are best met by those living in it, and who better to enhance our programs than youth themselves? Youth volunteers with significant musical achievement provide mentorship to our participants in group and one-on-one classes. Less musically inclined volunteers who none-the-less recognize the value of musical education are often involved in organizational and administrative roles. We strive to equip all of our volunteers with skills that promote leadership, confidence, accountability and responsibility. Our Board of Directors and members of the Executive provide support for our chapter volunteers, as the personal-development of our volunteers is an equally important element of our mandate.

Additionally, we believe in the importance of instilling a sense of social responsibility in today’s youth. It is our hope that these individuals will grow into involved and active citizens and will continue to address the needs of their community, making a positive contribution to the world in which we live.
